Is Craftmark a certification body?
No. Craftmark helps makers organize and display evidence-backed claims. The public badge level explains whether a claim is self-declared, document-provided, platform-reviewed, or independently third-party certified.
Can makers keep supplier documents private?
Yes. Evidence documents can remain confidential. Public pages show buyer-facing summaries and evidence levels, not private downloads.
Does this work for one-off custom orders?
Yes. Makers can start from a reusable product template, then create a custom order passport with the exact buyer agreement, milestones, delivery terms, and aftercare.
What can buyers see?
Buyers can see public product pages or link-only order pages. Buyer email, private notes, and confidential evidence are not shown publicly.
What does Craftmark cost during the pilot?
Participation is currently free for invited pilot makers. Buyer accounts are free. The pilot has no payment, escrow, or commission features, so Craftmark never handles money between a buyer and a maker.
Where is Craftmark data hosted?
The core application is hosted in Paris, France, inside the European Union. Personal data handling, retention, and data-protection rights are described on the privacy page.
How is a product passport different from a normal product page?
A normal product page is marketing copy. A Craftmark passport records materials, dimensions, finishes, lead time, country of production, warranty, repairability, and care instructions alongside each claim's evidence level, so a buyer can see what is documented and what is only stated by the maker.
