Reading the maker map

A pin shows roughly where a workshop is, at the precision that workshop chose to publish. Some makers publish a full workshop address because they welcome visitors; others publish only a town or region. A pin is never a home address the maker has not agreed to show.

Distance matters more for commissioned furniture than for most purchases. Freight for a solid dining table across Europe is expensive and slow, a workshop within driving distance can be visited before you commit, and a local maker can more easily collect a piece for repair years later.

The same craft, country, and evidence-level filters as the directory apply to the map, so you can narrow to one discipline before comparing locations.

Every part of the platform is documented in the open, so you can read how evidence is recorded before deciding whether to take part.
